COME EXPLORE ALASKA'S WILD RIVER COUNTRY

Alaska Flyfishing, Salmon Fishing, Trout Fishing and Wildlife Float Trips

The further we get from roads and people, the closer we get to pristine Trout and Salmon streams, abundant big game such as Brown and Black Bear, Moose, Caribou, Sheep and Goats and astonishing wilderness terrain. Every now and then we'll pass a native village or see another raft floating by... But the only sounds you'll hear will be that of your own voice and the river flowing over the rocks.

This is the place we call home and River Expeditions of Alaska takes you there.

With a long list of fly-in destinations to choose from, we tailor-make our expeditions to meet the objectives of our guests, whether it's fishing for trophy Rainbow Trout and Salmon, professional/amateur photography of landscapes and wildlife or just a long leisurely float trip with old friends and family. There's no set age limit.

Come explore Alaska's Wild River Country with River Expeditions of Alaska! Fly fishing/ Fishing Expeditions are our main attraction. We'll put you and your group on wild, wilderness rivers and streams in the Bush where you'll fish for trophy-size Rainbow Trout and Char, and where various species of Salmon number in the hundreds of thousands! You'll find fly fishing at it's best on these remote rivers as we travel and fish in comfort on 17' Catarafts where there's plenty of room to stand up and fish, or lay back and hang your feet in the water. See our Rivers List for rates and information to help you decide which one will suit your party best. Then call or e-mail us and we'll discuss details and confirm your expedition schedule.

Photography Expeditions offer great opportunities. Your guide is an enthusiastic photographer/ videographer who knows how to put you in the best areas to find Grizzly, Black Bear, Moose, Caribou, Dall Sheep and other types of birds and wildlife. Landscape and Scenic locations are obviously abundant and we'll discuss your objectives and do our best to put you in position to get your desired subjects. We've been shooting film around the state for 23 years and continue to find new areas to run our photo expeditions.

Skill Building Expeditions A program where people who haven't learned the skills of outdoorsmanship, but want to, can come and spend a confidence-building week in the remote outdoors of Alaska learning to navigate a river in a raft, row, build a camp, fire making, basic maps and compass skills, campfire cooking, setting up tents and shelters, how to survive in a wilderness emergency, catching fish and generally learning to be confident and comfortable in the wilds. Only then can you fully focus your attention on the incredible beauty and inspiration that Wild Alaska offers. You come away from an experience like this with a new level of self-confidence in yourself and an appreciation for the remaining true wilderness.

There's other opportunities, rivers and trips to choose from and we can tailor-make expeditions to suit your needs. If what you're looking for isn't listed, call us.

Some of our Most Popular Packages

Alagnak River
$2490. per person. 6 to 7 days All inclusive from King Salmon, Alaska One of Alaska's premier Trout Rivers within the state's Wild Trout Area. It's 74 miles of water to where the Alagnak connects to the Kvichak River. There are some lodges along the way but it is classified as remote and wildlife such as Brown bear, Moose, Wolves and other smaller game and eagles are abundant. Main fish populations include Rainbow Trout, King Salmon, Grayling, Silver, Chum and a lot of Red Salmon. The specie of salmon caught will vary depending on what month we go. Recommended times are July through September. In July there are millions of Sockeye in the river. The King run peaks late July/ early August and Silvers(Coho) from mid-August through September. The Trout of course are well fed and that's part of the reason the Alagnak is part of Alaska's Trophy Trout Region. Fly fishing is excellent!

Tikchik River
$2490.per person. 6 days All inclusive from Dillingham, Alaska. Located within Alaska's beautiful 1.7 million acre Wood-Tikchik State Park, The Tikchik River flows out of the northern-most lake in the Wood River Lakes System, Nishlik Lake, and drains into Tikchik Lake some 60 miles down river. Dolly Varden, Rainbow and Grayling fishing is very good. Silver(coho) and Reds (sockeye) are in the river also. Caribou, Brown bear and Moose are the common large game as well as the usual beavers, otter and ducks, etc. This mountain park area is very scenic and offers wonderful photo opportunities. June through August with August probably the best time. We travel from Dillingham by float plane to Nishlik Lake over spectacular lake and mountain country

Lake Creek
$2290. per person 6 days. All inclusive from Anchorage, Alaska. Another extremely beautiful float and this one just a one hour flight northwest of Anchorage. It is 54 miles of fairly swift, clear mountain water with one canyon to navigate. It originates at Chelatna Lake in the foothills of the Alaska Range right under Mt. McKinley and Mt. Foraker! I spent the summer of '91 guiding for the Riversong Lodge at Lake Creek and this is one of my Favorites. Six days allows plenty of time for leisurely fishing and camping. Trout fishing is superb and from June through September there's lots of lively salmon in the creek as well as grayling and dolly varden. If you choose Lake Creek don't forget to bring a lot of film and a good camera. Wildlife residing in the area include black and brown bear, moose, eagles, otters and beavers. Feel free to call about camera and film recommendations. We also shoot lots of video along the way.

These rivers we've described are remote and offer great fishing. We have other rivers to offer that are more off the beaten path that we don't publish the names of. We prefer to keep these destinations remote and untouched and encourage those wishing to spend their float trip further off the beaten path to call us for more information.

We've just briefly described a few of our expeditions to consider. For comfort we carry a maximum of two guests per raft and so will add rafts for a larger party. Food is top rate and we enjoy plenty of fresh fish dinners prepared by our Alaskan cook. We're not a big, Outside commercial operation. I'm the guide and we do one expedition at a time. We invest in state of the art rafts and equipment where it really counts and our main goal is to ensure that you'll go home with memories of good fishing and a great adventure on Alaska's Wilderness Rivers.
